Billboards

Gone are the days when you could see sexy advertisements along EDSA. The Ads Standards Council of the Philippines has made guidelines on billboards. This was a result of public outcry over the numerous ads showing sexiness and everything that triggers thoughts about sex. Some of the billboards that have been taken down by the Metro Manila Development Authority include underwear ads featuring the Philippine Volcanoes, the country’s rugby team, another one featuring Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis.

According to ASC, MMDA does not have the right to form a committee focused on billboards because this might only cause red tape (longer processing for billboard installment). ASC panel is also comprised of professional screeners from the industry who are primarily tasked to ensure the truth in advertising. According to the report of ABS-CBN News, the panel is composed of Virgie Velasco, Msgr Suplido, Lito Yabut, Neil Galvez, Gigi Garcia, Gold Roldan, JR Hernandez, Raul Alvarez, Glen Fernando and Sandra Puno.

ASC stated that they will check billboards more carefully as these are seen by the public, including children.

But what is wrong with billboards of a woman in underwear or Adam in brief?
